Dry Wipers
Sometimes I don’t notice that I’ve adjusted in my point of view or lifestyle until I’m faced with my former ways and recoil. The recoiling makes me realize the difference that has taken root.
Just a warning: the following may be tmi for some. Proread at your own risk(get it? It’s like proceed but you are reading? You don’t have to tell me; I already know how witty I am)
Over the past months, I have been using water to do the rinse off after visiting the loo, rather than using the paper alternative. Lola, as well, has gotten into the habit, preferring a rinse rinse rather than a wipe wipe.
The first time that Lola went #2 at the hotel, she requested help when the time came to clean up. I did a quick glance around and noted that there was no hose, nor water bucket. Paper will have to do. As I began the task, I began to gag. How disgusting is wiping. I heard a story once about how a school-aged Arab boy attending school in America used to call his classmates “dry wipers” as an insult. When I first heard it, I thought it was a cute story about cultural differences. Now, I relate to the boy’s opinion. Using paper is gross. Why would you want to just mush all that mess around? If you got poop on your finger, you wouldn’t just wipe it off with a Kleenex, would you? Water washes it all away. It’s so much more hygenic, in my opinon. If one prefers, paper may be used for a little pat down afterwords to dry off.
Paper.
