Well, aren’t you all up in the treats this weekend (my weekend, not yours)? Two posts on days that I don’t usually post because I want you all to learn that my weekend is Thursday and Friday. So don’t call before 10 a.m. Not that you ever call, but you know. Just in case. I’m overdosing you now in hopes that you won’t notice that I won’t have posted anything on Saturday. Or Sunday. Or Monday (probably).
We found out that the big lavish wedding isn’t going to be happening at the big lavish hotel. Instead of spending a small fortune on a hotel room, we decided that we would go back to the original plan of me going to the capital alone. We feel it’s better this way, too, for the kids since they would have been missing 3 days of school, and for The Mister to be able to concentrate on some work that he needs to get done. So today, hopefully, I’ll be on the 5 p.m. flight. Alone. The Mister feels confident that he can take care of the chillins – as long as there is food (I’m going to make a big pot of beef stew). I’m also thinking about making them a cake. What do you think? I probably should since The Mister looked at the pictures, pointed at the one with carnations and said, “Where is this one?” He was so very sad when I told him that I had given it away already.
We’ll see how we all do with me being away from the family. I think this is the first time that I will ever have traveled alone. I did go back to the homeland for my grandma’s funeral (I miss you, Gram!), but Lola was with me. I don’t think I’ve ever traveled by myself. It’s only a 1/2 hour flight with no passport controls or anything, and a simple taxi ride from the airport to the guesthouse I’ll be staying at (a much more affordable option than the lavish hotel, although I LOVE the breakfasts and the breakfast at the hotel in Egypt was meh. So disappointing. Hey! Speaking of hotel breakfasts – did I mention that when we were in Chicago, we saw Vince Vaughn walking down the street while we were eating our breakfast? It was a good breakfast too. Lots of fresh fruit and berries. I had the European fave of toasted bread and sliced smoked salmon with cucumbers on top. Man, I love hotel breakfasts. And I saw Vince Vaughn, so that was neater peter.)
Wish me luck. I’ll be a lone traveler. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish off that book that has been sitting on my “currently being read” shelf over there for much too long. I like the story, I just haven’t had time to really lose myself in it lately. But this trip! I just might!
