Whip The Sweet
Blessing called in sick to work today. Part of me wanted to lick the “I’m out sick” sign, essentially calling dibs, because I HURT MY TOE FIRST! But I can’t argue with a fever. While I’m not able to walk long distances, I did manage to hobble my way around, relocating Charlie and Lola to the kitchen so I could do the dishes during spelling/grammar class. My legs hurt, though, from the weird compensating-for-pain gait that I’ve adopted over the past week. When I finally sat down with Lola to go over her grammar class, I extended the class by adding another lesson and then another because it just felt so good to be sitting. Every morning this week, I’ve gotten out of bed and thought, “I wonder if we can have a reading day?” I told The Mister today that maybe I would make it requirement that the children lie in bed with the teacher for a day full of reading. He said that it didn’t sound appropriate. Whatever.
Instead, I’ll schedule a little nap time this afternoon with my current-mammoth-read that I am enjoying so very much, and the gigantic jaw breaker I found in my stocking on Christmas morning. I’ve been working on it for the past 3 days, and I’ve made some significant progress, of which I am proud – both the book and the candy. Charlie is, also, duly impressed, as he should be.
