Trouth Moubles

Learning a new language is like a roller coaster: ups and downs, thrills and chills, powerful moments of exhilaration, and equally powerful moments of dread.  Now that I’m getting more proficient in the language, I’m becoming more fearless in letting loose, and this doesn’t always have the most spectacular results.  I, often, don’t catch my mistakes until after the conversation is over and significant time has passed.  Even if the person corrects me, I don’t necessarily get what my mistake was until much later.  Then I slap my hand to my head and think, “Dang!  I did it again.”  My list of boo-boos has been growing, and will continue to grow I’m sure.

Here are is a spattering of my flubs (I’ve generously translated it all into English so that you understand.  Aren’t I great?)

Me: What is this dessert?

Friend: The saying is “What is this beautiful thing.”

2) Me:  How much does this dress weigh?

Store Clerk:  How much does it cost

3) Me: What is this dress’ secret?

Store Clerk: What is it’s price?

4) Me: You are so CLEAN!

Friend: You mean, thin.

I speak so good!
