You probably have no idea what you are looking at there. I didn’t either. At first, I thought we had happened upon evidence of an ancient civilization that had been coincidentally uncovered by the intense wind just as we arrived at the beach.
Turns out it was the spine of a recently deceased whale. We had been warned about a killer whale loitering around some of our favourite haunts, but it had expired before we had the chance to see it bobbing in the big blue. The Mister found a bunch of scavengers feasting on the pile of skin, and we found one of the gigantic rib bones bouncing off the rocks in the waves. I was impressed at the rate of decomposition.
