Another week is finished. I can’t believe it. It gets to the end of every week and, as I’m writing up my report for our portfolio to send to our support teacher, I’m always amazed at what we accomplished and that we’ve been studying for so long already. Charlie: 11 weeks Lola: 3 weeks.
I’ve been teaching both of the kids for 3 weeks already! Unbelievable. Already, I’m seeing a marked improvement in Lola’s reading skills. It’s amazing what focused teaching/learning will do. Also amazing what Lola can accomplish when she’s not asking to go to the bathroom all the time.
My favourite moments from this week:
- Lola squealing with delight over the number line. Who knew that a number line could be so much fun? Spend some time with Lola and you’ll find out. She’s 100% sanguine, that much is clear.
- Charlie mastering process and reasoning paragraphs and getting excited over sentences that he created. I love it when he gets into his writing. I love being surprised by his creativity.
So here’s to the weekend! Only one more sleep until The Mister returns. I can’t remember everything that was on my “Get This!” list, so it’s going to a bit like Christmas morning tomorrow. That is, it will be like Christmas morning if The Mister actually makes it home. He got to the airport in London today to find out that he was booked on the flight to Cairo on the 19th of NOVEMBER, and his flight to our city from Cairo is booked for the 13th of October – which, of course, has already passed. Not sure how the travel agent messed up so royally but he did and he’s now trying to fix it. My last communication was with The Mister just before he boarded his flight to Cairo. I’m sure I’ll hear from him in a few hours about the state of his next flight. Apparently, it’s full and he’s on a waiting list. Can’t they just cram him into the utility closet? I need The Mister back!
Countdown: hopefully one more sleep.
**UPDATE** The Mister is coming home! Not sure what happened, but when he landed in Cairo he got a text from his travel agent with his e-ticket number for the flight tomorrow! I’m so very pleased. Currently, we are on Skype, doing what we would be doing if he was home at this very moment: not talking, listening to each other type, smiling at each other every once in awhile. We know how to romance.
